Party bar hire turns a gathering into an event. Instead of a kitchen counter of warm wine and a cool box, you get a restored Rice horsebox with warm amber lighting, a proper back bar and two uniformed bartenders who mix the drinks, keep the glasses moving and remember everyone's order. If you're looking to hire a bar for a party, it usually suits one of two people: the host who wants to enjoy their own party instead of playing barman, and the host who wants the night to feel like an occasion rather than drinks in the kitchen. Most of our party bookings are both.

Bar hire for parties isn't just for big numbers. A small engagement drinks or a baby shower with an alcohol-free menu gets the same care as a 50th with a full cocktail list.
Bar hire for parties at home or in the garden
Space. The horsebox needs roughly 5m x 3m of firm, reasonably level ground and a clear route in for towing — driveways, lawns and paddocks usually work. A photo of the space and the gate is the quickest way for us to check.
Water and light. It carries its own running water and amber lighting, so you don't need to run hoses from the kitchen or rig lights for the bar.
Setup. We arrive ahead of your guests and are set up and pouring within around 90 minutes. At the end of the night we pack down and take everything with us.
Neighbours. A bar is quiet — it's the music that carries. Let the neighbours know, agree a sensible finish time, and we'll wind the bar down when you're ready.
Hiring a village hall or function room instead? That works too, as long as there's vehicle access.
Who pays for drinks?
- Guests pay. A cash & card bar. Depending on your guest numbers and location, the bar hire may be free, against a minimum spend, or a small fixed fee — we'll recommend the best option on your quote.
- You're treating them. An open bar, a pre-paid tab or one of our drinks packages. You set the budget, we handle the rest.
- A bit of both. Cover the first round (tokens, a tab or reception drinks), then the bar switches to guests paying.

Make it a party: sound, lighting and light-up numbers

How much does it cost to hire a bar for a party?
It depends on guest numbers, how long you'd like the bar (up to 4, 4–8 or 8–12 hours) and who's paying for drinks. If guests buy their own, the hire itself can be low; if you're treating everyone, you're mainly paying for the drinks. Every party is quoted individually, within 24 hours.
Can you set up a bar in my garden?
Often, yes. The horsebox needs roughly 5m x 3m of reasonably level, firm ground and a clear route in for towing. Send us a photo of the space and the access and we'll tell you honestly whether it fits.

Do guests pay for their own drinks?
It's up to you. You can treat everyone with a hosted tab or drinks package, let guests buy their own, or mix the two — for example a welcome drink on you, then a guest-pay bar.
Can you bring light-up numbers for a milestone birthday?
Yes. Lunar Lights supplies light-up numbers and letters — a glowing 30, 40 or 50 next to the horsebox makes the photos. Book them with the bar for a multi-service saving.
